Second Nine Weeks for Second Grade Wow, I can’t believe the school year is half way completed. We are bringing our learning to a pause and sharing our projects with you online. The following second grade classes, Ms. Tuck, Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Riley, have been learning about “Why dogs are considered people’s best friend.” They researched a chosen dog and learned about animal characteristics. They used the data to build a glyph, a pictograph about one breed of dogs. Below are the classes’ reflections of our learning.

Jewel. Dogs help their owners.
Reed. They watch and guard people’s houses. They help people who can’t walk by bringing things to them.
Skyler. They help blind people find their way.
Braxton. They help deaf people by keeping them away from danger.
Zach. They help rescue people from danger. Dogs are mammals.
Stephanie. They hunt for people who are hurt or missing.
Dwight. They help fight fires.
Jazzlyn and Willishia. They help rescue in the dark when people can’t see.

Matthew and Harrison. When you run a dog will run with you. Dogs help firemen.
Raven, Jackson, and Cheyenne. A dog is your friend a long time and he starts liking you.
Denzel and Saxon. When your dog is missing you do things to find it, like put up missing posters. Dogs are workers and rescuers.
Kyle and Donta. Dogs and people like to play together. Dogs help policemen.
Shaddix and Brandon. Dogs and people like to work together. Dogs rescue people from fires. Dogs help police.
Jahlese and Leslie. Dog’s good sense of smell helps them find people. Dogs adapt to their owners.
Nyshaad and Algajuan. Dog’s senses help to find people in snow. Dogs guard animals like goats.
